Good Friday Service
April 18 6:30 - 7:30 pm | Centennial Church
Join us as we reflect on and celebrate the death of Jesus on Good Friday with a Tenebrae service.
Tenebrae, meaning “darkness” or “shadows,” has been practiced as a liturgy by the church since medieval times. Once a service for the monastic community, Tenebrae later became an important part of the worship of the medieval common folk during Holy Week. Tonight we join Christians of many generations and denominations throughout the world in using the liturgy of Tenebrae.
Our service will have three aims. First, to narrate and remember the events of Jesus’ death. Second, to open up the meaning of these events for our understanding of God and of the redemption accomplished by the cross. Third, to invite ourselves to renewed prayer and repentance.
We would love to have you join us.
