Psalm 93
November 24, 2024
Our Father, we are so thankful that You sit on Your throne in Heaven, unmoved by the torrents and floods of the world. You reign over every detail in our lives and every nation in our world, and no one can stand against You and be victorious. You reign in majesty, in power, in complete holiness and trustworthiness, and You reign forever.
What a glorious truth to build our lives on.
We pray for those whose lives feel like they are in upheaval, who are facing loss or grief or uncertainty or trouble of any kind. We pray for their faith to have deep roots so that the floodwaters would not wash it away. And we pray for us to be a community of support as Your Body.
We pray also for our brothers and sisters around the world who face levels of chaos that we can hardly imagine, whether in hunger and poverty, in persecution or corruption, in war or displacement from their homes. We ask that You would protect, provide for, and surround them with You presence, and that even in the hardest of places Your church Kingdom would grow. We know that the darkness ultimately cannot overcome Your light.
We pray for our global partners who serve in or near some of these challenging places, and we ask that You would clear the way for Your Word to go forth in power there. Break down barriers, provide for physical needs, and open hearts to receive Your good news.
And finally, we pray for the people who rule on earth with different levels of authority, but all of whom ultimately only have the authority you allow them to have. We pray for our president and legislators and judges and our local leaders. And we pray for the most ungodly of regimes and rulers around the world. Father, humble those who are arrogant, Break the teeth of those who are wicked. Help those in authority to shepherd their people with justice, enabling Your people in all places to lead peaceable and quiet lives in freedom as we await the time You will return to claim Your rightful place as the true King.
We pray this in Jesus’ name, and all God’s people said, Amen.
