Psalm 126

John Chamberlain   -

October 27, 2024 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

We praise you today for who you are. We praise you for watching out for us like a protective Father. You have cared about and provided for your people throughout all of history. We as your children are no different today.

In today’s psalm we learn when you brought your people out of captivity, they were able to laugh and sing songs of joy. There is no question in our congregation that people may feel they are being held captive by something. We also know that Satan loves to steal our joy whenever possible. In those times Father, we pray that you would remind us of your faithfulness. You are the same today as you have always been. Help us to be encouraged by the fact that you always keep your promises. When your people in this psalm were focused on you, they were filled with laughter and songs of joy. How great is that! Show us ways that we can abide so close to you, that we too will be able to sings songs of joy in the midst of what life throws at us.

We also see that because your people were filled with laughter and joy, the nations around them took notice. They could see you were at work and had done great things. Help us to bring glory to you by centering our lives on what is important to you. In so doing, may it be obvious to the people around us where our joy truly comes from.

Heavenly Father, we are instructed in Psalm 122 verse 6 to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. The war they have been involved with over the past year has been a constant drain on them. We ask for you to protect them and bring them to an understanding of how you have been the one watching over them in this war. Please continue your hand of protection over them so they can once again live in peace.

We praise you along with N and C for allowing them to have a time of refreshment at a recent training conference they attended in M. We ask that you would grant them wisdom and strength as they continue their ministry work in A. We pray that you would continue to strengthen N’s heart and build up his stamina. We also ask that you would provide good friends for B and T as they attend school this year. Please bless the relief efforts of people who have been helping with flooded areas near them, as well as all of the areas that were struck by recent hurricanes in the southern part of the United States.

We pray these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people said………Amen.
