Psalm 13
March 30, 2025
Father,
We thank you that you have put Psalm 13 in your word so that those of who pray: “Where are you” and “Why have you forgotten me” might know they are not crazy or unChristian, but rather they are in line with the Psalmist.
Indeed LORD, we would not feel your absence unless we knew what it was like to be in your presence.
So, Lord, for those in pain this morning, we pray with them: Where are you and why have you seemingly forgotten us?
Why does it feel like you are standing so far away and that you are so far from saving us?
We don’t get it and we want to know what’s going on?
Lord, we have taken counsel in our souls and we simply don’t understand:
The evil you say you hate, the evil you claim you’ve defeated has seemingly gotten the upper hand and we are at a loss for words.
So, King Jesus, sovereign over us, we pray you would consider us and answer us.
Give life to our languishing souls and a song of praise amidst a season of confusion and sorrow … lest unbelievers see us and ask, “Where is his God now?”
Lord, amidst these seasons of pain, would you surround us with godly community, that we would not take counsel completely alone in our souls.
Send us comforters and friends who can bear our burdens and lift up our spirits.
And give us supernatural patience as we wait for your answer.
Lord, help us to remember you’ve already dealt bountifully with us.
You have shown us your steadfast love in the person and work of Christ — who was truly deserted on the cross that we might never ultimately be forsaken.
Help us trust in your steadfast love now and help us rejoice in your salvation — the one you’ve already provided, and the one that’s coming in the future.
We pray in Jesus name — and all God’s people said: Amen.
