Psalm 7
February 16, 2025 Father, like the psalmist we come, to you, seeking refuge.
We may not have adversaries pursuing us, as David did, actively wishing to tear us
apart.
Yet, we all live, with aspects of our lives, that are unsettled.
Regardless the source of our challenges, guard and protect the souls of your children.
Expose the malicious content in our hearts, that is lurking in our bodies, set for action
when we least expect it.
As we continue, this series from the book of Daniel, my prayer is that as a congregation,
we will continue to allow the content of these your words to permeate our lives.
Help us grasp, the attractiveness and beauty you were to Shadrach, Meshach and
Abednego, giving them the conviction, to go against king Nebuchadnezzar rant to have
the people worship his Golden statue.
Show us, how we can we build a rapport with you, so that like them we can overcome
the opinions, fabrications idols seen around us and in our media feeds. For the sum of
your words is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.
In this psalm we also hear that you feel indignation every day. Let us not be numb to the
malicious immoral, vile things that surround us. Give us boldness to speak up in our
places of employment and in other meetings we have in our local communities.
Arise, O Lord, let your hand be ready to help us. You are the righteous God! May your
righteousness be so evident and attractive to us that we run into your presence.
As we offer our prayers today, we want to embrace our colleagues in SE Asia. We know
that they have difficult assignments as they teach and work at building cross cultural
relations in their communities. We stand with them and ask for you to sustain and
strengthen them as they go about their work.
Give us soft hearts … where scripture can take root, be fertilized, be nurtured and grow
in us.
When we are tempted to swerve from your testimonies, help us remember your words
and feel your presence. May we never take you for granted.
We pray these things this day knowing that you are near and that your commandments
are sure. And all God’s people said … Amen.
