Psalm 24
December 8, 2024 Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we worship you because you are holy and worthy of praise. You have established the entire universe. It is infinite to us in vastness and detail. We are in wonder and celebrate your glory. We have this good news because you have revealed yourself to us generally in nature, and specifically in the Bible. Because we know this good news, we bring our praise and worship to the rightful place at your throne King Jesus. Lord forgive us for the times when we worship created things instead of worshiping You our master creator. Thank you for making us in your image and inspiring us to create. May our creations reflect, and bring glory to you oh God.
We are grateful that you have revealed your good news to us. You are our King of glory that we put our hope in. And we can rest in peace knowing you are our Lord, strong and mighty. You are strong enough in all of our situations. We confess that we cannot see or fully comprehend our circumstances and all of the inter-relationships in our world. We are not infinite in our ability to control our world, and we are not wise enough or humble enough to have that infinite power for ourselves. We are your children, you are our father. You discipline us, you train and teach us. We strive to grow and learn how to be more like you, when we enjoy good times, and when we are going through extremely difficult circumstances.
We pray for one another in our church body. Some of us are enjoying good times, and some of us are struggling with difficult circumstances. Many of us have been sick and lacked good health. We may have recently lost a loved one, or this holiday season brings painful memories of a lost one. Some of us may currently be struggling to believe that you are good given our current circumstances. Remind us of your goodness and faithfulness as we study your Word, and as we join together as our local church body to worship together. Help us to care for one another.
Lord, help us to guard our thoughts. When our thoughts lead us to despair, help us to see that we cannot fix our situation on our own. Help us to not let ourselves become isolated. Help us to find a close friend that we can confide in and pray for one another. Help us to be that friend to someone else. May we earnestly care for one another. Let us pray without ceasing, not only for ourselves, but for our brothers and sisters in Christ that you know you. Help us to pray for our neighbors that don’t know you and don’t have the hope that we have in you.
May we seek to have clean hands and a pure heart, and not put our hope in idols. May we seek your face, and put our hope in you. Let your Kingdom come, and your will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.
