Luke 2:25-35

John Chamberlain   -

January 29, 2024 Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
Thank you for the opportunity we had this past week to reflect on the greatest gift that has
ever been given. Like Simeon, we join together in praising you for Jesus.
Jesus, how do we even begin to thank you. By providing a way of salvation you have
allowed us to get back into a right relationship with you. You came to Earth to enter your
creation in the most humble of circumstances. You knew you would eventually carry the
sins of the world onto yourself as you willingly went to the cross for us. We praise you and
thank you for this indescribable gift!
Simeon’s song also reminds us clearly that this gift is for all people, regardless of their race
or social status. Father, rather than becoming proud, help us to instead be grateful that you
have called us to be your children.
Holy Spirit we thank you for the unmistakable impact you had on Simeon. Your guidance
and revelation to him is something you still make available to us today. As we wait in
anticipation for the return of Jesus, grant us the same hope and assurance you gave to
Simeon.
Father, we thank you for answering our prayer that C’s team at Wycliffe would have
wisdom and clarity as they worked on some large projects. It’s an encouragement to us to
hear how excited C is when she sees you at work. We continue to ask that you would
protect her health as she balances the demands of her job along with D’s new work
schedule. We pray that you would be at work to bring the right person to take on the new
data visualization role on their team.
As we look forward to the start of a new year this week, help us to have a fresh
anticipation of looking for your return. You promised in John 14:3 you would return for us
someday so we could be with you forever. We know that we can trust your word. As we
continue to live our lives out here, help us to be a shining testimony to a sometimes dark
world around us. May we reflect brightly the joy and peace we have found in you.
We pray these things in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people
said………Amen.
