Luke 1:68-79

David Nelson   -

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people.”

And how true that is Lord. For even Zechariah knew only in part of what you had in store for your people.

But if there’s one thing that’s abundantly clear: It’s that you did not leave your people to sit in the darkness.

You have made good on all your promises and raised up for us, out of the house of David, the house of Judah — a Savior who meets our every need.

You have shown us mercy and remembered the covenant you made that the seed of Abraham would be a blessing to the nations.

In Him, you have conquered our true enemies of sin and death and given us weapons of war to use as the devil rages on with his schemes.

Lord, in Christ, we have no reason to fear — whether fear of the world, the flesh, or the devil … or even fear of you — For you have welcomed those who believe as your children.

Help us, Lord, as John the Baptist instructed us through your Spirit, to bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

Give us knowledge everyday of the salvation you’ve brought since we are so prone to forget it.

Remind us daily of your tender mercy and the light that has dawned on us that we might be a people who do not continue to walk in darkness.

Remind us there is no longer a shadow of death to be afraid of that death has been tossed aside through the work of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Guide our feet, Lord, into the way of your peace.

We ask that you would bless our various Global Partners in this Christmas season whether they are traveling home or staying in a far away place.

Help them know they are remembered and loved, most of all, by you.

We pray this in the name of Jesus…

And All God’s People Said … Amen
