Psalm 110
October 8, 2023
Lord, we are so thankful that You are the King that rules on high. You reign sovereignly over all the nations, over all the powers, over all that happens. It’s a comforting thought, when we are stressed by the political events, corrupt powers, and unjust policies around us, that You will shatter kings and execute judgment on the nations and make the enemies of Christ His footstool. We praise You because You are both mighty and good.
Lord, as You work to bring Your Kingdom here on this earth as it is in Heaven, would we as Your people offer ourselves freely, as the psalm says? Would You make us eager to be a part of Your mission, whatever the cost? You have clothed us in holiness and You have given us an assignment in this spiritual battle. May our knowledge of how it ends and of You at our right hand give us courage as we face daily the darts of the world, the flesh, and the devil.
We pray this morning for our global partners, those on the front lines of the battle in other parts of the world, bringing Your good news to those that haven’t heard it. We pray that Your Spirit empowers their work, that Your Word would go forth with power, that more people would come to know you and more ministers would be raised up for the work. God, protect Your servants and provide for all of their needs and their families. We pray that each of them would have a strong community of support and care, that their own intimacy with You would deepen, and that they can serve others out of the overflow of what You are doing in their own lives.
Help those of us here in the northern suburbs to be equally committed to sharing Your good news with the unreached people around us, of whom there are many. We pray that You open doors for Your message and give us boldness to walk through them. Would we in the next year be able to see many people come to know You for the first time?
We ask this all for Your glory and because of Your Son. And all God’s people said, Amen.
