Psalm 130
August 8, 2021
Dear Heavenly Father, Son and Holy Spirit,
We thank you for this psalm which is so descriptive of the character traits that can be found in You alone. When we are at the end of our rope and realize just how much we fall short of your holiness, your mercy steps in. When we cry out for mercy, You respond with forgiveness and wipe the slate clean. No one has the power to forgive sins except You. Thank you Jesus for being willing to take our sin on yourself at the cross, and pay the penalty that should have been ours to pay.
The psalmist encourages us to “wait for the Lord”. Unfortunately, far too often we are set in our own ways because they seem good to us. Holy Spirit please show us what it even looks like to “wait for the Lord”. Slow us down so we can hear your instruction in our quiet time, meditation on the bible, or singing a praise song to You.
The psalmist also instructs us that with You there is unfailing love and full redemption. He didn’t say you offer 99.5 % love or 97% redemption. The words “unfailing” and “full” signify completeness. Thanks to You, we don’t have to feel like we are missing out on some of what the world has to offer. When we wait on You and learn what your plan is for our lives, we can find true contentment. We will also find the meaning and purpose for why you have us on earth at this particular time in history. Thanks for allowing us to be part of Your great redemption story!
Heavenly Father we are thankful for the ways in which You have allowed B and T to be able to connect with so many people in their ministry. We ask that as they continue to work, these friends would grow in their understanding of who Jesus is and why He came to earth. We pray that you would bind Satan and allow the Holy Spirit to work in their lives, so that they will believe in You. We understand that B and T have been under a lot of stress lately. Please grant them rest during the remainder of this summer. Help them to have the wisdom to balance the needs of their family, their ministry and their vocations.
We pray this in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit….and all God’s people said………Amen.
